Overview

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that deals with the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents of the age, ranges from birth up to 18 years of age. The subject includes systematic training in growth and development, nutritional needs of a child, immunization schedules and management of common diseases of infancy and childhood, and counseling. The broad goals of the training in Pediatrics are to acquire knowledge and appropriate skills for optimally dealing with major health problems of children and to ensure their optimal growth and development. Pediatrics is the science and art of child care and includes preventive, primitive and curative care of children Pediatrics is not just concerned with curing disease but also of taking responsibility for the overall development and well being of the child.
